ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE DIETITIAN
When you think about eating nutritious foods and making health-related goals, who would you go to for help? Your friend, coworker or the internet? While you may find some helpful tips from those sources, you won’t find the most accurate, evidenced-based and customized recommendations that you would get from a registered dietitian. I became a dietitian to assist people in making the necessary changes in their lives to allow them to become their best self. It’s not just about eating right, it’s about setting the right frame of mind, making a game plan, and following through. As the Performance Dietitian at Wel at Humana, that’s what I look forward to helping members do in their lives.
My educational background includes a BS in Biology from Union College in Barbourville, KY and a MS in Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. I have a diverse dietetics background that started in inpatient nutrition care at UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, KY where I also worked in outpatient counseling at the UK Gill Heart Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center. After that, I had the opportunity to work in long-term care facilities, a primary care office where I provided medical nutrition therapy, and in a pediatric endocrinology office as a diabetes educator. I believe my extensive background in nutrition and counseling will better assist me in helping our members reach their health goals.
FOUNDATIONAL NUTRITION CLASS
Eating is personal. It’s not about following a strict set of rules; it’s about tailoring your nutritional game plan to best support your body, goals, and preferences. The FREE Foundational Nutrition class will provide guidance on how members can incorporate key nutrition principles into their daily routine that will aid in meeting their individual health needs. This is a one-time class offered two days a week so members can find the day and time that best fits into their schedules! I will be teaching these classes on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. in the lower level Mind Body Room at Wel at Humana. Members can log in to their Wel at Humana account via Mindbody and begin the registration process via the Registered Dietitian Services tab.
Class space is limited to 15 people. For more information please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
